2017 Linn County Fair 4-H Share-the-Fun Results

The Linn County Fair 4-H Share the Fun competition was held on Sunday, July 2 at the Linn County Fairgrounds in Central City.  Winners will represent Linn County at the Iowa State Fair in August.

  • Lucie Scott, Cedar Rapids – Ukulele and song solo

Senior Entry:

  • Amanda Dragon, Mt. Vernon – Storytelling – Little Red Riding Hood with a Twist

2017 Goat Milking Contest Winners

The Goat Milking Contest was back by popular demand at The 2017 Linn County Fair! The Contest was held on Thursday, June 29 in the Ag Educational Tent. Teams of 3 had 60 seconds to milk as much as they can from a goat. Each team member milked for 20 seconds and then switched positions. Teams were also judged on best dressed and were encouraged to come in costumes. This contest was a huge hit and there are high hopes it will be back again next year!

2017 Linn County Fair Queen Crowned

The Linn County Fair Association is proud to announce the 2017 Linn County Fair Royalty, Alexis Costello – Fair Queen and Kiera Dixon – Fair Princess. They were crowned on Thursday, June 29 during the crowning ceremony at The Linn County Fair in Central City. Delaney Sturtz was awarded the Leadership Award and Grace Pisarik was awarded the Citizenship Award during the ceremony.

Our 2017 Linn County Fair Queen, Alexis, will compete in the Iowa State Fair Queen Competition, August 8th – August 12th. On August 12th at the Iowa State Fair grounds the new 2017 Iowa State Fair Queen will be crowned. Come and cheer on our new 2017 Linn County Fair Queen as she vies for the title!

Bios:

Alexis Costello is the daughter of Tim and Karen Costello of Cedar Rapids.  Alexis will be studying at Mt. Mercy University this fall and plans to double major in Criminal Justice and Accounting.

Kiera Dixon is the daughter of Michael and Karen Dixon of Walker.  Kiera will be attending Central College this fall.

Grace Pisarki is the daughter of Steve and Susan Pisarik of Mount Vernon.  Grace will be a senior at Mount Vernon High School this fall.  Graces’s future plans are to attend a 4 year college and pursue a career in the medical field.

Delaney Sturtz is the daughter of Michelle Tegeier of Cedar Rapids.  Delaney will be a senior at Alburnett High School this fall.  Delaney’s future plans involve a career in animal science.

2017 Linn County Fair 4-H Club Booth Winners

Each year at the Linn County Fair, 4-H Clubs decorate their display booths according to a theme.  This year’s fair theme is “A Family Tradition”.

2017 Quilt Block Challenge Winner

Another Family Tradition was created this year with the 2017 Linn County Fair Quilt Block Challenge contest. Connie’s Quilt Shop supplied the kits that included colors from this year’s fair logo. Fifty quilt blocks were purchased. Contestants had to use all fabrics and create a design with a chance to win a $25 gift certificate from Connie’s Quilt Shop.

2017 Quilt Blocks

Blocks were displayed at the 2017 Linn County Fair June 28th to July 2nd. The blocks were judged for the Viewer’s Choice and the winner was block #18 created by Sandy Feldman of Alburnett.  Later the blocks will be made into a quilt to be raffled off at the following year’s fair. All proceeds will go towards improvements of The Linn County Fair.

The 2016 Quilt Blocks were quilted into a beautiful quilt that was raffled off and the winner was announced Sunday, July 2nd at the fair. The winner was Dave Roll.

Fairy Garden Contest Winners

The Fairy Garden Contest was open to all ages and residents and was held on Friday, June 30th. No artificial plants were allowed. Wheel barrel size and under were acceptable. They were judged on eye appeal, creativity, theme and healthy plants.
