New Fair Office Manager

The Linn County Fair Association is proud to announce Deb Zumbach as the new Office Manager for The Linn County Fair effective October 1, 2015. The Office Manager position was recently created to help manage events during and outside of the fair on the fairgrounds.

The Linn County Fair Event Manager will be responsible for managing and promoting rentals of the Lynn Dunn Memorial Building, managing The Linn County Fair Association’s Partnership Program,  managing the grants and donations for The Linn County Fair Association, managing the book work for The Linn County Fair Association and fair week duties and other duties as assigned by The Linn County Fair Association Board of Directors.

Deb has a true passion for the fair industry and you can see it in everything she does. She stated that  “My true passion is working with the fair visitors and partners and fair donors.  Watching the fair grow the past 10 years has been a great experience and I hope that I can continue to help the fair continue to grow and reach new areas in educational events and entertainment.” The Fair Association is excited to have Deb as our new Office Manager to continue to help grow the use of the fairgrounds through out the year and help grow the fair!

As part of Deb’s commitment to the fair industry on December 2, 2015, at the 125thAnnual Convention of the International Association of Fairs and Expositions (IAFE) she graduated from the Institute of Fair Management.

Launched in 2007, The Institute consists of a series of 32 short courses covering the areas of core competency necessary for today’s professional and volunteers involved in the production of their agricultural fair. Courses cover management, risk management, marketing, programming, operations and year-round facility usage. The courses are offered in a variety of settings – as part of IAFE meetings, via webinars, and in an annual enrollees-only event called The Summit – in a two-year, repeating cycle.

Deb enrolled in the program in 2013 and was one of 38 graduates honored at the IAFE Convention in Las Vegas, Nev., on Dec. 2, 2015. Including this group of graduates, there are more than 230 individuals enrolled in the Institute of Fair Management from across the U.S. and Canada.

IAFE
The International Association of Fairs and Expositions (IAFE), based in Springfield, Mo., is a voluntary, non-profit corporation, serving state, provincial, regional, and county agricultural fairs, shows, exhibitions, and expositions. Its associate members include state and provincial associations of fairs, non-agricultural expositions and festivals, associations, corporations, and individuals engaged in providing products and services to its members, all of whom are interested in the improvement of fairs, shows, expositions, and allied fields.

Deb Zumbach:
Deb Zumbach lives near Coggon on a farm with her husband Louie Zumbach. They have four daughters, Brandy (married to Michael Meishied), Taylor, Allison and Rachel. She has been a volunteer with the Linn County Fair Association since 2005. During that time she has held the office of Treasurer for 6 years.She has raised her daughters through the 4-H and FFA programs and she currently is the leader of the Coggon Clippers 4H Club.

She currently has her real estate license and has now added a graduate from the Institute of Fair Management to her certifications.
