Local Donkey Riders WANTED

New rodeo stars will be born during the wild and crazy Dairyland “Celebrity” Donkey Races Show at The Linn County Fair on Wednesday, June 24th at 7:30pm, This will be a fun free family event. It’s racing action on real, live donkeys. Guaranteed to be wilder than a rodeo and funnier than a circus!

The fair is looking for forty local “celebrity” donkey jockeys. This is a chance to become a local “celebrity” and show off your riding skills, or lack of them.  If you or someone you know would be interested in riding one of the donkeys please go to http://thelinncountyfair.com/donkey-races/ to fill out the entry form. We are looking for team of four. We are hoping to have all 40 riders placed by June 13th. It will be a fun event for all ages and a good opportunity to show your community support.

Several Notes for Riders:
  • Minimum age of 16 years old
  • All Riders must weigh less than 225 pounds
  • Suggested to be in good healthy and physical fit
  • Must attend the training class prior to the event the night of the races. The class will be at 6:30pm.
  • Gym shoes or boots are a must, no cleats, spikes or sandals
  • Feel free to wear your organizations/team shirts/t-shirts
  • Long pants should be worn
  • For a crowd pleaser feel free to come in outlandish costume.
  • Baseball helmets and elbow/knee pads will be provided.

The Linn County Fair Association teams with Sched.org to Create Interactive 2015 Fair Schedule. 

 The 2015 version of The Linn County Fair website incorporates some new changes and content, including an interactive 2015 fair schedule using Sched.org program tools.  The new schedule found athttp://thelinncountyfair.com/2015-fair/, allows website users to view the schedule in many different ways.  Users have the ability to create a user profile in which they can add different events to their profile schedule and can interact with other users as well.

“The new schedule allows website viewers to view The Linn County Fair schedule how they want to see it”, says Website Manager Kevin Banasik.  “Users can view fair events by venue, by day, or even by class.  This allows fairgoers to easily plan their fair experience.”

The 2015 Linn County Fair schedule also allows users to create a calendar of events they wish to attend and upload that calendar into their personal planning tools including Facebook and Gmail. This will allow fairgoers a quick and easy way to track what events they want to see at The Linn County Fair so they don’t miss a thing!

2015 Little Mr. and Miss Linn County Fair Contest

The Linn County Fair Association is now accepting applications for the 2015 Little Mr. and Miss Linn County Fair Contest.  Working to involve the youth of The Linn County Fair, the Little Mr. and Miss Contest is now in its fifth year and provides the contestants the chance to get further involved with the fair as well as meet and bond with peers in the same age group.

The Little Mr. and Miss Linn County Fair Contest is open to boys and girls who have completed Kindergarten through third grade, who reside in Linn County, and have been involved in the fair in some way.  Such involvement may include, but is not limited to, clover kids, the Kiddee Tractor Pull, the Kiddee Calf Show, and/or Bucket Bottle Lamb. The responsibilities of winners include representing the fair during fair week by handing out ribbons and awards at various shows as well as participating in various events throughout the following year.

To enter this contest, contestants must be eligible in accordance with the provided rules as well as fill out and turn in the application form and coloring page to Brandy Meisheid or Taylor Zumbach by mailing it to The Linn County Fair postmarked no later than May 30th, 2015. Contestants must also attend judging on June 24th, 2015. at the Linn County Fairgrounds Grandstand. The 2015 Little Mr. and Miss Linn County Fair will be announced and crowned Wednesday, June 24th at the Linn County Fair Opening Program in the grandstand.
