The third annual Quilt Block Challenge was Red Hot! Forty six blocks were submitted for the challenge for the 2011 Linn County Fair. Contestants used 3 to 5 fabrics with one of those designated as the focus fabric for their block. All fabrics were included in the kit that was provided by Connie’s Quilt Shop.
Blocks were displayed at the 2011 Linn County Fair July 6- 11th. The blocks were judged for the Viewer’s Choice and received a $25 gift certificate from Connie’s Quilt Shop. The 2011 Quilt Block Challenge winner was block #25, Diane Kula of Springville.
The blocks were then made into a quilt, which will be raffled off for $1 per ticket from now through the fair in June.The 2011 Quilt Block Challenge finished quilt raffle tickets will be available for the first time this Saturday, March 31st at the Linn County Cattlemen’s banquet from 5:30pm – 6:30pm. The raffle tickets will also be available at various farmer’s markets, Connie’s Quilt Shop fabric sale in May, and other various county venues. Raffle tickets can also be purchased by contacting a Linn County Fair Association member.
The raffle drawing will be held Sunday July 1st at the fair, need not be present to win. All proceeds go to improvements of the Linn County Fair grounds.
