The storms that blew through Eastern Iowa early this mor
ning caused some minor damage to the fairgrounds. Crews were up first thing this morning cleaning up the grounds and assessed the damage. The storm caused any small objects to be blown or displaced. Many of the tents set up through out the fair grounds had been blown over or destroyed. There was minimal structural damage to the fairgrounds.
Today is the last day of the fair with a few events scheduled. The 4-H/FFA Horse show was pushed back to 10am. The Live Stock Auction (at 1pm) and Harness Races (at 6:30pm) are still on as scheduled.
Due to the many volunteers that showed up this morning we have been able to get most of the storm damage cleaned up. We are still looking for volunteers today and tomorrow to help with normal fair clean up. If interested please show up at the fair grounds and we will put you to work.
Besides the storm that hit the fair today, the 2011 Linn County Fair has been a successful fair with many attendance records broke. Stayed tuned for final numbers and results for this year’s fair!
