20 days to go…Youth Talent Contest

I am excited to say that the Youth Talent Contest is back again at the Linn County Fair this year. We are always trying to give an outlet to the youth of our community to allow them to showcase their talents!

The Linn County Fair is proud to present the 2011 Youth Talent Contest on Thursday, July 7th at 2pm in the Farm Bureau Free Entertainment Tent at the fairgrounds in Central City. The show is open to all residents of Linn and surrounding counties in Iowa.

The Youth Talent Contest is encouraging all youth that has a talent that they would like to showcase to participate. The talent show will consist of three divisions: Pee Wee- 2 through 6 years old, Tween- 7 through 14 years old, and Senior – 14 through 18 years old. (Age is determined to be the age of the contestant on July 7th, 2011.)

Contestants will be granted points by a panel of four volunteer judges on talent, ability, stage presence, audience appeal and originality. Additional bonus points are allotted at the discretion of the judges for outstanding performance. Each age group will have a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place ribbon & award certificate winner. Then the panel of judges will determine the overall winner of the 2011 Linn County Fair Youth Talent contest out of the 1st place ribbon winners from each age group. Overall Talent

Contest cash prizes are as follows:

  • First place: $75 cash
  • Second Place: $50 cash
  • Third Place: $25 cash

Additional prizes will be awarded at the determination of judges and the Linn County Fair staff.

Registration deadline is Saturday, July 2nd, 2011 – Registrations received or postmarked after that date will be accepted at the discretion of the fair, host and judges in time and space allow. No last minute registrations will be accepted the day of the contest.
