If you have never seen a Draft Horse Pull you are missing out. The Linn County Fair’s third annual Draft Horse Pull is Saturday, July 11th at noon . Come and watch these gentle giants as they demonstrate REAL horsepower by pulling a sled loaded with cement blocks. The fair record was broken last year with the winning ream pulling over 15,000 pounds.
Last year since with the breaking of the record pull we had ran out of cement blocks, so we had used volunteers to add weight. My favorite was the teenage boy that was on the sled and was texting on his cell phone. (See picture below)
Teams are expected to come from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Missouri and Illinois. New this year is a demonstration of how draft horses are used for logging. Vote for your favorite team and be eligible to win a door prize.
The excitement beings at noon, after the parade. Grandstand admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children 6-12 years and under 5 free.
